Light showers cool Delhi, bring relief from hot, humid weather
New Delhi, July 23 (UNI) After a dry and humid day yesterday, light showers today cooled down the city slightly.
The rains, which hit the city at 1600 hrs, brought down the mercury further to 35 degrees Celsius, from 35.5 degrees Celsius yesterday.
Though only traces of rainfall were recorded till 1730 hrs, the showers brought relief to Delhiites from humid conditions experienced yesterday.
The overcast sky since this morning suggested the possibility of more rainfall later during the day or tomorrow.
Infact, the Met office has forecast more rains in Delhi and other plains of Northwest India during the next two to three days under the influence of a trough in the Westerlies extending upto mid- tropospheric levels which runs from Jammu and Kashmir to Northeast Arabian Sea across Pakistan.
''Under this scenario, scattered to fairly widespread rainfall is likely over the Western Himalayan region and adjoining Northern plains during the next two-three days,''the Met office said.
The Met office has forecast a generally cloudy sky in Delhi during the next 24 hours with one or two spells of rain or thundershowers.
