K'taka cabinet sets conditions for starting of SEZs

Bangalore, July 23 (UNI) Katnataka cabinet today sought promoters of Special Economic Zones to acquire land directly from farmers and return them 20 per cent of the developed land in lieu of monetary compensation.

Briefing newsmen after Cabinet meeting, Primary and Secondary Education Mister Basavaraj Horatti said the government would give clearance for setting up of SEZs only after these conditions were fulfilled.

This condition would apply to the farmers who gave the land measuring more than 0.25 acre, he said.
