HC directs Punjab govt to produce Chahal in court tomorrow

Chandigarh, July 23 (UNI) Punjab and Haryana High Court judge, Justice Uma Nath Singh today directed that B I S Chahal, former media advisor to exchief minister Amarinder Singh, be produced in the court here tomorrow in connection with his allegation about torture in custody by police.

This order was given during hearing on Chahal's bail in connection with case of alleged attempt to murder and land grabbing at Daad village in Ludhiana district in October last year. Chahal was arrested in this case last month and has since been in jail after the Punjab police slapped cases of forgery against him in Patiala.

Chahal is presently lodged in central jail, Patiala.
