Haryana govt to give quality education to SC students
Chandigarh, July 23 (UNI) The Haryana Government has increased the plan budget for the Welfare of Scheduled Castes and Backward Classes Department from Rs 16.75 crore to Rs 100 crore during the current fiscal year with a view to implement a number of schemes for providing quality education to the students.
While giving this information here today, Education Minister Phool Chand Mullana said that a provision of Rs 6.75 crore under Dr Ambedkar Medhavi Chhatar Yojana scheme had been made to give scholarships to 2000 students of the Scheduled Castes and 1000 students of the Backward Classes (Block 'A'), who secure 60 per cent or more marks in 10th class during the current financial year.
Mr Mullana said that under this scheme scholarship at the rate of Rs 1000 per month for two years in 10 plus one and 10 plus two classes would be given.
The Minister said that the rates of scholarships of Scheduled Caste students had been enhanced from Rs 30 to Rs 75 per month in middle classes and Rs 40 to Rs 100 in 9th to 12th classes and under the scheme a budget provision of Rs 32.95 crore had been made during the current financial year.
