Govt allows commercial utilisation of minor ports

Chennai, July 23 (UNI) The Tamil Nadu Government today decided to allow commercial utilisation of small and minor ports, being built by private parties and others for specific purposes.

The Cabinet, chaired by Chief Minister M Karunanidhi, decided to allow the small and minor ports, built by private parties for specific purposes, to handle goods on commercial basis to make use of the ports to the fullest capacity, an official release said here.

The Cabinet also decided to do away with the present condition that land owners, whose lands had been earmarked by the Tamil Nadu Housing Board for acquisition, should produce a No Objection Certificate for taking up building works in their land.

These lands after earmarked by the Housing Board for construction of houses were remaining idle at various places in the state. The land owners, were required to produce a NOC from the Housing Board for constructing any building on the land.
