Patna, Jul 23 (UNI) Within a month of a two-year-old boy was charged with murder, four-year-old Raunak Singh of Gaya district was served with an arrest warrant on charge of booth capturing and resorting to violence in last year's Panchatyat elections in Bihar.

Though it might sound bizarre, but exactly this happened in Gaya district of South Bihar, forcing Raunak's father to bring the child to the local court today for his surrender since an FIR was launched in this connection by the local police.

But thanks to good sense prevailed among the lawyers that the child was sent back home forthwith without being produced before the court.

Reports reaching here said the boy was served with a warrant by the local court accusing him of being directly involved in the alleged capturing of a booth and opening fire to scare the people in the locality during the last year's Panchayat election even if that did sound absurd because of his age and palpable innocence.

Later speaking to newsmen, the district Superintendet of Police described the incident as a faux paus since the warrent did not mention Raunak's name as the FIR was lodged against the cousins of one Jhalak Singh in the area along with 15 others because of their alleged involvement in the violence.

It was not the fault of the police force since neither did the name nor the age of the child mention in the warrant, served to the cousin of Jhalak Singh, the SP said and promised to look into the issue.

Incidentally, in a similar case of wrong identity Bihar police booked a two-year-old child in an alleged murder case last month setting off a public outcry in the entire state which forced the authorities to backtrack and acknowledge its mistake.
