Firdous's cousin yet to meet Haneef
Bangalore, July 23: Languishing in solitary confinement in a Sydney detention centre, Dr Mohammed Haneef is yet to see even the photograph of his new born girl, being carried by Imran Siddiqui, now in Australia to meet the detained medico in connection with the failed Glasgow blast.
Mr Siddiqui, a cousin of Haneef's wife Firdous Arshiya, has reached Australia over the weekend to give 'moral support' to the Indian doctor, whose visa had been withdrawn and confined to a detention centre even as the case is posted for August 31.
He is carrying with him a photograph of Hania, the less than a month old tinytot of Haneef and Firdous. He is waiting for the permission from Jail authorities to meet Haneef.
"It might take another couple of days for my cousin to meet Haneef. He (Siddiqui) has conveyed to us that it will take some time before he could get permission," Firdous told mediapersons at her residence in BTM layout in the city today.
The cousin had informed the family that support for Haneef was growing even in Australia. Various groups had pressed for his release. "All want Haneef to be release as he is an innocent. There had been rallies and protests not just by human right groups but ordinary people as well," she added.
