Bodies of two slain militants recovered in Doda

Jammu, July 23 (UNI) Security forces today recovered bodies of two slain militants of Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) and Hizbul Mujahideen (HM) from different places in Doda district of Jammu and Kashmir, official sources said here.

Troops of Doda police and 26 Rashtriya Rifles (RR), during search operation, recovered a body of a LeT militant from Kither area today. The slain militant has been identified as Javed Iqbal son Shamas-u-Din resident of Chinayas, sources said.

He had surrendered on October 5, 2005, but again resumed militant activities, sources said adding that besides, a number of militancy related cases, he was also involved in killing of the two special police officers (SPOs) Isher Lal and German Singh and looting of arms and ammunition on September 8 last year.

In a fierce gun battle at kither area on March 30, one Lashkar militant Mohd Ali code Abu Zar was killed and Javed Iqbal and Showkat Ali were critically injured but they manage to escape, sources said.

However, the body of Showkat Ali was recovered on April 5.

In another militancy related case, one surrendered militant was killed by the militants at Kumla Trigam, police station Banihal last night.

The militant identified as Mohammad Yaseen of Hizbul Mujahideen who had surrendered July 24 last year. The body was recovered today and handed over to legal heirs after performing legal formalities.
