BMC Oppn leader demands high security for civic HQ
Mumbai, July 23 (UNI) Leader of Opposition in the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), Raj Hans Singh, today demanded additional security in the civic headquarters, in the wake of tightened security all over the city following threats from terrorist organisations.
In a letter written to BMC Commissioner Jairaj Phatak, Mr Singh asked him to increase security in the BMC HQ. Singh stated, ''The TADA court is punishing the culprits of the 1993 serial bomb blasts.
Some of the accused in the blasts had wanted to plant bombs in the BMC building.'' Mumbai police has heightened security across the city's railway stations and places of worship after the Intelligence Bureau (IB) tipped the State government and warned it of terrorists threats in various parts of Mumbai.
Security in the BMC HQ should be tightened using modern techniques like metal detectors, CCTV's and x-ray machines, said Singh.
