14 women inmates sexually exploited at MP jail

Jabalpur, July 23 (UNI) The Madhya Pradesh High Court today directed the state government to respond to a letter petition alleging that 14 female inmates at Balghat Sub-Jail were being sexually exploited by the jailer, staff and male inmates.

Chief Justice Anang Kumar Patnaik and Justice Ajit Singh directed the Advocate-General to submit a reply on August 6.

Pointing out a specific instance, the petitioner alleged that at 2100 hrs on February 15, 2005, an SDM made the jailer open the women's barrack, took an inmate and sexually exploited her.
