1.11 cusecs of water discharged into sea from Prakasam

Vijayawada, July 23 (UNI) The Irrigation Department here today discharged about 1.11 lakh cusecs of surplus flood water into sea from the Prakasam barrage.

The release of water from the barrage was due to inflows received from Nagarjunasagar dam.

Irrigation officials at Nagarjunasagar had released about 1.50 lakh cusecs of surplus flood water last evening to the Prakasam barrage, sources in the Irrigation Department told UNI.

The sources said about 12,883 cusecs of water was released to irrigation canals.

Of the 70 crest gates of the barrage, 15 were lifted up to three ft and the remaining to two ft, the sources said, adding the water level of the barrage was being maintained at 12 ft.
