Tributes paid to Tamil poet

Puducherry, July 22 (UNI) Floral tributes were paid to Tamil poet Vanidasanar on his 93rd birth anniversary here today.

Puducherry Chief Minister N Rangasamy, Education Minister, M O H F Shajahan and Speaker R Radhakrishnan, were among others, who garlanded the statue of the poet before the legislative assembly here on behalf of the territorial administration.

They also paid tributes to the poet at his memorial at Seliyamedu village in Bahour constituency.

Mr Rangasamy also laid the foundation stone for the construction of a Manimandapam for the poet in the village.
