Top political leaders pay homage to Chandra shekhar

Ballia, July 21 (UNI) Top political leaders today congregated in the non-descript native Ibrahampatti village of former prime minister Chandra Shekhar for his 'terahvi' ceremony.

Those who paid homage to the late 'Young Turk' included Railways Minister Lalu Prasad Yadav, BJP president Rajnath Singh, Samajwadi Party supremo Mulayam Singh Yadav, former Haryana Chief Minister Om Prakash Chautala, Bharatiya Kissan Union president Mahendra Singh Tikait and controversial godman Chandraswami.

Mr Lalu Prasad termed the late leader as the guardian of all the Parliamentarians, who commanded respect of one and all and always intervened, whenever the Parliament proceedings came to a halt.

Mr Rajnath Singh observed that the former Prime Minister never compromised on his values and principles. ''...he had a big heart.'' Mr Mulayam Singh Yadav noted that Chandra Shekhar's life was an example in itself, which taught values of ethics, courage, honesty and simplicity.
