Thirumavalavan greets President-elect Pratibha Patil

Chennai, July 22 (UNI) Dalit Panthers of India (DPI) General Secretary Thol Thirumavalavan today greeted Ms Pratibha Patil on her election as President of India.

In a statement here, Mr Thirumavalavan said the democratic-minded people were delighted over Ms Patil's victory.

He thanked DMK President and Chief Minister M Karunanidhi for playing a vital role in Ms Patil's election.

He hoped that Ms Patil would work for 33 per cent reservation for women, besides the upliftment of the poor and downtrodden.
