Teacher held for outraging 11-year-old girl's modesty
Nagpur, July 22 (UNI) A primary school teacher has been arrested for allegedly outraging the modesty of an 11-year-old girl student of standard fifth in Buldhana district in Vidarbha region of Maharashtra.
The teacher, identified as Milind Jagdeo Telgote, working in a Zilla Parishad (ZP) school in village Wadgaon-Wan in Sangrampur tehsil of the district, was arrested from a nearby village late last night, police said today.
Telgote had told the girl to sweep a classroom during recess in the school yesterday. He followed her into the room a little later and outraged her modesty.
The girl later narrated the incident to her mother, who informed other women in the neighbourhood. The women then accosted the teacher and beat him up, after which he fled to a nearby village, police said.
The girl's mother then lodged a complaint with the police against the teacher. Acting on the complaint, the police registered an offence under Section 354 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and nabbed the suspect.
