Six arrested for links with militants in Kashmir

Srinagar, July 22: Troops arrested six people, including a 60-year-old man, suspected of working for militants in north Kashmir, a defence spokesman said today.

He said an area domination patrol of 47 Rashtriya Rifles (RR) observed some suspicious movement in general area Chakkigam on the Sopore-Kupwara road and apprehended four people.

The arrested had been identified as Mohammad Jamal Shah (40), Abdullah Bhat (60), Ali War (50) and Mushtaq Ahmed Dar (20). All the four people had been handed over to Kupwara police station for further investigations, the spokesman added.

In another operation, he said troops of 32 RR apprehended two over ground workers of militants at Ludar in Baramulla district.

The two, identified as Fayaz Ahmed Rather and Moniuddin Ganai, were later handed over to the police, the spokesman added.
