Silver, gold shoot up during the week

Mumbai, July 22: Spot silver and gold shot up by Rs 325 per kg and by Rs 190 per ten grams respectively on bullish global advices during the week ended July 21 on the Bombay Bullion Exchange.

Silver .999 fineness grade opened high on Monday at Rs 17,950 per kg on good advice from domestic industrial users. The white metal recorded a high of Rs 18,255 on July 21 and low of Rs 17,835 per kg on July 17 and closed at Rs 18,255 per kg with a massive gain of Rs 325 from its last weekend close, traders said.

In the global markets, silver also closed high at USD 13.32/13.35 per troy ounce during the week ended July 21 as compared to the previous weekend close of USD 13.03/13.06 per troy ounce.

Standard mint gold (99.5 fineness) and pure gold (99.9 fineness) also opened steady on Monday at Rs 8,765 and Rs 8,815 per ten gm respectively on moderate demand.

The yellow metal registered a high of Rs 8,955 on July 21 for standard mint and Rs 9,005 for pure gold on the same day.

Standard mint gold recorded a low of Rs 8,710 per ten gm on July 17. Likewise, pure gold also registered a low of Rs 8,760 per ten gm on the same day.

Finally, standard gold closed at Rs 8,955 per ten gm and pure gold at Rs 9,005 with a huge gain of Rs 190 from their last week close.
