Sikh youth, woman commit suicide in Kashmir

Srinagar, July 22 (UNI) A Sikh youth and a woman committed suicide in separate events in the Kashmir valley since last evening, police said today.

They said an 18-year old Sikh youth, identified as Inder Singh of Preet Nagar area in Jammu, jumped into river Jhelum at Amira Kadal near here yesterday.

Police have registered a case in this context. Massive efforts have been launched to recover the body of Inder, a class XI student of Dogra Higher Secondary School, Shastri Nagar, Jammu.

A woman, identified as Misra Begum, consumed some poisonous substance in her residence at Shalkote in Rafiabad area of Baramulla district, police said.

The woman was rushed to a hospital, but died on way.

Police have registered a case in this context too.
