Several localities without water as supply line ruptures in Shimla
Shimla, July 22 (UNI) Drinking water supply to several localities in Shimla town of Himachal Pradesh continued to remain affected for the third day today following the rupturing of a supply line at Kasumpati area, IPH sources said.
Efforts are on to ensure drinking water supply to all areas between Kasumpati to Chaura Maidan which have not received water since Friday, a senior IPH official, requesting anonymity told UNI here.
He said intermittent light rains during the last two days have affected repairing works, which were likely to be completed by this evening, provided there was no rain.
Supply to Chotta Shimla, Kanlog, Bemloe, Kamna Devi, Chaura Devi, Vikas Nagar, Willow Bank, Kotshera and New Shimla areas of the town have been affected due to the rupturing of the water supply line, he said.
The rupturing of the line has come a day after regular water supply was restored to the town after being supplied every third day during the summer season.
The sources said water drawn from Guma sources was being supplied to a few affected localities of the town, which was likely to get another water supply scheme on October two, later this year.
