Robbers loot Rs 2 lakh from bus passengers

Guwahati, July 22 (UNI) Robbers looted Rs 2 lakh in cash and other valuables of the passengers of a Guwahati-bound night bus in central Asom's Nagaon district late last night.

Nagaon DC J Balaji told UNI that around six robbers, armed with sharp weapons, hijacked the bus, which was coming from Imphal, near Burapahar with 40-odd passengers.

Threatening the passengers with weapons and even assaulting some, the robbers looted them and injured the driver.

Police have recovered the bus near Ambagan, around 35 km from the spot.

The DC informed that the passengers were later taken to Guwahati in the same bus.

An operation had been launched in the area to nab the robbers.
