New Delhi, July 22 (UNI) Premier Oil Plc, a UK explorer has said it has resolved the mechanical difficulties associated with the natural gas discovery in Masimpur-3 well in the Cachar area of Asom and the rig is now available for two further wells on the Cachar block for the second half of 2007.

Earlier, Premier had provided a status report on the operated Masimpur-3 well which it is drilling in Asom. At a measured depth of 4,002 m, a sandstone formation was encountered with good hydrocarbon shows and high formation pressure, said a statement.

Premier now says the mechanical difficulties have been resolved without the need to sidetrack the well. A seven inch casing has been set and the well will shortly drill ahead to target depth.

Premier holds a 14.5 per cent interest in the Cachar Block.

The Masimpur-3 well has a targeted production of two trillion-cubic-feet gas and is being drilled by Premier in partnership with Bharat Petroleum.
