Patil to move into Rashtrapati Bhavan on July 25

New Delhi, July 22: President-elect Pratibha Patil along with her husband Dr. Devi Singh Shekhawat, will move into Rasthrapati Bhavan on July 25 after the swearing-in ceremony even as visitors continued to meet the lady on the second day today after her election to the country's highest office.

Talking to sources, Mrs Patil's husband Dr Devi Singh Shekhawat said the family would shift on Wednesday, the day of the swearing-in.

Mr Shekhawat, who is running the Vidya Bharti group of educational institutes at Amravati in Maharashtra's Vidarbha region has already handed the charge to their son Rajendra Patil.

Several members of the Congress party and the United Progresive Alliance (UPA) continued to visit President-elect Pratibha Patil at her residence here.

Ministry of State for Parliamentary Affairs Suresh Pachauri, Information and Broadcasting Minister Priya Ranjan Dasmunsi and Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit were among those who visisted her 11- South Avenue residence in the capital.

A group of 20 Brahmakumaris from Mount Abu met Mrs Patil and said that the new President will not only help the cause of the women, child welfare and health but also contribute in developing the mental and spiritual well being of the nation.

Clad in colourful head-gear, a group from Rajasthan met Mrs Patil.

Poet Surinder Sharma, who also came calling, urged Mrs Patil to re-start cultural activities at Rashtra Bhavan which had been called off ever since Shankar Dayal Sharma was the President.

Also, security arrangements have been geared up around Mrs Patil's current residence in the capital and the entire security has been taken over by the Home Ministry.

The UPA-Left nominee had won the 13th presidential election by over three lakh votes.

Former Prime Minister H D Devegowda, in a statemen,t said that Mrs Patil would add stature to Rashtrapati Bhavan and the nation has reposed immense faith in her.

Lst evening Congress party workers and Mrs Patil's relatives had gathered in large numbers at her South Avenue residence started celebrating her victory and were seen distributing sweets dancing in joy ignoring the rains.
