One drowned, transport and communications affected in flood

Patna, Jul 22 (UNI) With the report of one death following flood in Bihar, the situation is getting worse, as major rivers in the state are flowing above danger level and increasing.

According to an official report from Kahalgaon in Bhagalpur district, one person was swept away in the flood water following breach in the Khalkhalia embankment on Chanan river near Puccamool village.

The water released from Chanan dam created pressure on the embankment, which developed breach inundating Puraina village. The villagers have taken shelter at a safer place as their kuchcha houses got damaged.

The report further revealed that the flood water today inundated more than 24 villages of Jagdishpur, Goradsh, Sabaur and Sanhala blocks.

Meanwhile, railway sources said flood water was flowing on the railway tracks at several places on Bhagalpur-Mandarhill rail division following which, train services were suspended on the route.

A bridge, underconstruction, also collapsed today on Bhagalpur-Sahebganj rail division near Laulak railway station paralysing traffic on the route since morning.

The report further stated that road communication was snapped on NH 80 near Trimuhan village as a bridge was swept away with the high currents of the flood water.

Road communication in the northern region of the state, especially in Saharsa, Sitamarhi and Bhagalpur were snapped due to the flood.
