Modi to inaugurate Vasna Urban Health Centre tomorrow

Ahmedabad, July 22 (UNI) Chief Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate Vasna Urban Health Centre tomorrow as part of Public Private Partnership (PPP) between Centre for Management of Health Services (CMHS) of Indian Institute of Management-Ahmedabad (IIM-A) and Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) for managing urban health.

''The IIM-A's CMHS has been working with AMC for improving urban health services in Ahmedabad, with a special focus on the urban poor living in slums and chawls. The IIMA's involvement started in 2004 following a request from the AMC,'' IIM-A Prof K V Ramani, coordinator of the Urban Health Project and the chairman of CMHS told reporters here today.

Prof Ramani along with his colleague Prof Dileep Mavalankar of IIM-A have developed a working model of PPP for managing urban health. They have implemented this model in Vasna ward successfully.

The PPP Partners are AMC, Gujarat Cancer Society, Akhand Jyot Foundation, and non-government organisation Saath.
