Minister puts Kerala's monsoon loss at Rs 1,400 cr
Palakkad, July 22 (UNI) Kerala Revenue Minister K P Rajendran today informed the state suffered a loss of Rs 1,400 crore in the monsoon fury.
Talking to newspersons after a review meeting on the extent of losses here, he said about two lakh people were shifted to 1,081 relief camps opened in the state.
Mr Rajendran alleged though Kerala sought a Central assistance of Rs 250 crore as a special grant for providing compensation, not a single rupee was received on this account.
The government was expecting a Central team to visit the state soon to assess the loss, he added.
The Revenue Minister said the government would prepare a special rehabilitation package for those who lost houses in the natural calamity.
As immediate assistance Rs 25,000 each would be released for houses completely destroyed in monsoon-related incidents and Rs 15,000 for those partially damaged.
