Militant killed in Banihal

Jammu, July 22 (UNI) Security forces today gunned down a militant in general area of Shagun in Banihal of Doda district of Jammu and Kashmir, official sources said.

Acting on a tip-off about presence of some militant in general area of Sahgun the troops of 23 Rashtriya Rifles and Jammu and Kashmir Police launched an operation.

During the operation militants opened fire on the security forces which was retaliated effectively, sources said adding one unidentified militant was killed and one AK rifle, 3 AK magazines, 33 rounds and one Chinese Grenade were recovered from the possession of slain militant.

Meanwhile, one 303 rifle along with 100 rounds were reportedly taken away by some unidentified masked militants from the house of one Nain Singh, resident of Sadda police station Kalakote in Poonch district. Nain singh was not in his home at the time of incident, sources said.
