Lashkar militant among three killed, arms looted in J
Srinagar, July 22 (UNI) Three people, including a Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) militant, were killed while ultras looted arms and ammunition from a village defence committee (VDC) member in Jammu and Kashmir during the past 24 hours, an official spokesman said today.
He said militants entered the house of Ghulam Mohammad Mir alias Muma at Bawan in Handwara area of border district of Kupwara last night and opened indiscriminate fire on the residents.
While 55-year-old Mir was killed on the spot in the firing, his son-in-law Ghulam Qadir sustained serious injuries.
The spokesman said militants kidnapped and later killed a surrendered militant, Yaseen Pachu, from Amma Trigam village in Banihal area of Ramban district late last night.
Security forces shot dead a Lashkar militant, Mohammad Shafi, during an encounter at Sangan village last night, the spokesman said, adding an AK assault rifle, three magazines, one hand grenade and 70 rounds were seized from the possession of the slain ultra.
Suspected militants entered the house of a VDC member, Nain Singh, at Kalakote in Rajouri district and took away one .303 rifle and 100 rounds from him.
Security forces arrested two militants from Badgam and Ramban districts and seized an AK rifle, two hand grenades, one wireless set, three magazines and 22 rounds from their possession.
