Katihar-Jogbani gauge conversion by March 2008

Katihar, Jul 22 (UNI) The gauge conversion on Katihar-Jogbani rail section under Katihar divison of North East Frontier Railway (NEFR) would be completed by March 2008.

Kathihar Divison Chief Engineer(railway) A K Garuda here today said the construction work on Katihar-Mukuria rail line was in progress and would be completed by August 2007.

The resources would be employed for the conversion of Katihar-Jogbani metre gauge into broad gauge soon after the work is completed, he said.

''It is for the first time that we are employing PQRS system with the help of automated machines to increase the pace of the work. It is cost effective also,'' he said.

Though the current torrential rains affected the ongoing work on the route, the work had progress as per schedule, he added.
