High alert on MP-UP border

Bhopal, July 22 (UNI) Securing has been stepped up in Madhya Pradesh's Satna, Rewa, Panna and other districts bordering Uttar Pradesh in view of dacoit chieftain Shivkumar Patel alias Dadua's elimination in the neighbouring state today, and the Ambika Patel alias Thokia gang being targeted, Addl DGP (Intelligence) Surendra Singh said.

''A heavy police force has been deployed on the state border to prevent any criminal's entry,'' the officer added.

Both gangs have unleashed a reign of terror in Satna and adjoining districts but the Madhya Pradesh Police has already stamped out the Gwalior-Chambal region's principal bandit gangs.
