Haryana to spend Rs 160 crore under Grameen Rozgar scheme

Chandigarh, July 22 (UNI) The Haryana Government had spent Rs 161.86 crore under the Sampooran Grameen Rozgar Yojana, which had been introduced to provide additional wage employment, food security and improvement of nutritional levels of the people living in the rural areas.

While stating this here today, a spokesman of the Rural Development Department said that a total of 132.89 lakh man days had been generated under this scheme, out of which 84 lakh man days had been generated for people belonging to Scheduled Castes and 38.65 lakh man days had been generated for women. The Central Government had also allocated 85632 MTs of foodgrains to the state government free-of-cost for distribution to the workers under this schemes.

Giving details of various other schemes of the department introduced for the benefit of the rural masses, he said that under the National Rural Employment Guarantee scheme, an expenditure of Rs 2413.93 lakh had been incurred and 91,497 households had been issued job card. Out of these, 39,128 households had desired for unskilled employment and had been provided with suitable jobs.

Under the scheme, 17.58 lakh man days had been generated in the rural areas, out of which 10.59 lakh man days had been generated for Scheduled Castes and 4.98 for women.

He said that under the Indira Awaas Yojana, a scheme designed to provide shelter to rural poor, an expenditure of Rs 45.12 crore had been incurred and 16,404 houses had been constructed. Out of this, 10,265 houses were for Scheduled Castes.

Referring to the Swarnjayanti Gram Swarozgar Yojana, the spokesman said that it was a holistic programme covering all aspects of self employment and the state government had incurred an expenditure of Rs 34.34 crore by assisting 27,383 swarozgaris.
