Nalgonda, July 22 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy today said the Government would take up Nagarjuna Sagar modernisation works at an estimated cost of Rs 2,052 crore.

Participating in a programme after performing rituals at the Sagar Dam to thank 'Krishnamma' for blessing the State with abundant water, Dr Reddy said the modernisation works would be completed within four years.

Alleging that the previous Telugu Desam Party (TDP) had neglected the irrigation sector, causing the decline of agriculture produce in the State, he said the Congress Government had taken up 'Jalayagnam' to turn the state into ''Harintandra Pradesh''.

He said about 22-lakh acre of agricultural land would get irrigation water from the Sagar Dam.
