'Gaurav yatra' to mark Pratibha Patil's success
Jalgaon, July 22 (UNI) Over a Thousand women, representing various mandals, held a 'Gaurav Yatra' here today to mark the victory of Mrs Pratibha Patil in the Presidential polls.
The women, led by Mayor Tanuja Tadvi garlanded the bust of Mahatma Gandhi at the city square at 1500 hrs and proceeded towards the Patil residence. During their journey there were lezim dance performance by girl students of about three schools and skating by another 100 girls.
On reaching the Patil residence, the women-folk extended their congratulatory greetings to Mrs Pratibha Patil's family, including brothers G N Patil and V N Patil, who accepted them with warmth. The Patil household distrubuted sweets to the visitors.
Meanwhile, at 1800 hrs, members of the Patil family left for Delhi for the swearing-in ceremony of Mrs Pratibha as the next President of India on July 25, family members said.
A large number of Congress workers from Jalgaon city and district also left for Delhi this evening, sources said.
