Fake liquor racket bust, 8 held

Tirupati, July 22 (UNI) Police busted a major fake liquor racket by arresting eight persons, including the kingpin and seized machines and bottles used in the operations at a house in Udyoganagar in Tirupati Rural Mandal of Chittoor District of Andhra Pradesh today.

Police here said on information, they raided the house where J Ravendra Kumar Reddy of Vijayawada manufactured the liquor and distributed them to wine shops in Tirumala Rural Mandal.

During interrogation, Reddy said he had sold 200 liquor cases to three wine shops belonging to Raghava Reddy at Durga Samudram and Cherlo Palli in Tirupati Rural Mandal.

Followng this, police also raided the shops and arrested four persons and a driver engaged in transporting the liquor. A Maruti van was also seized.
