Constable arrested following links with militants

Jammu, July 22 (UNI) Jammu and Kashmir Police have arrested a constable following inputs that he had information about activities of Lashkar-militants but did not share them with his seniors.

Abdul Wari, a constable posted in Doda police, had a house at Dali Nowpora in Kulhand area where three Lashkar-e-Toiba (leT) militants, including hardcore Mohammad Asgar Ali, were gunned down while a policeman Abdul Rashid sacrificed his life in 28 - hour - long encounter on July 1.

According to intelligence reports, Wari's brother Rafiq Wari, who was a hardcore LeT militant operating from Pakistan since 1994, has returned to the state and is conducting militant activities.

Rafiq, a divisional commander was coordinating militant activities in Doda, Kishtwar, Bhadarwah and Ramban for the last 13 years and was reportedly camping in Dali Nowpora, sources said.

Abdul had inputs about the presence of five top militants at Dali but he did not share the information with police, sources said adding he was likely to be sent to Joint Interrogation Centre (JIC) to ascertain his links with the militants.
