Jhabua, MP, July 22 (UNI) Congress General Secretary and the party's Madhya Pradesh incharge V Narayanasamy today called for a CBI inquiry into the alleged death of a tribal in police firing here on June 15.

''I will soon meet Home Minister Shivraj V Patil in this regard,'' he said while addressing a gathering after meeting the kin of Ramesh Vasuniya who hailed from this district's Jhapda village.

Union Minister of State Kantilal Bhuria was also present.

Mr Narayanasamy, who met the tribal's relatives in accordance with a directive from party President Sonia Gandhi, alleged that an attempt was underway to sweep the matter under the carpet.

''Atrocities against tribals and minorities witnessed a spurt due to the adverse law and order situation in this BJP-ruled state,'' he added.
