Case against NBA for gheraoing Minister

Barwani, MP, July 22 (UNI) Fourteen Narmada Bachao Andolan activists have been named in a case registered against a total 164 NBA workers for obstructing government work by gheraoing Madhya Pradesh Tribal Welfare Minister Vijay Shah, police said.

The case was registered against Umesh Patidar, Ashish Mandloi and others following a report by Town Inspector D V S Chouhan. A total 48 cases were registered against NBA in this district alone.

Cases were also registered in Khargone, Jhabua and Dhar districts.

Police used mild force to disperse NBA workers who gheraoed Mr Shah yesterday on the Khandwa-Vadodara road demanding discussion on their demands. The Minister was en route to Theekri from here.

The activists have encroached on nearby land belonging to two government institutions under a 'Bhoomi Ke Badle Bhoomi' (land compensation) agitation in support of the Sardar Sarovar Project's oustees.
