BJP to inquire into Shekhawat getting less votes in MP

Betul, MP, July 22 (UNI) Taking serious note of the discrepancy in the votes cast from Madhya Pradesh in favour of NDA-backed candidate Bhairon Singh Shekhawat in the Presidential polls, the BJP today ordered an inquiry into the matter.

Stating that a probe would be conducted, Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, however, declined to comment over the issue of invalid votes cast during the July 19 Presidential polls.

The ruling BJP has 169 members in the state assembly but only 162 voted for Mr Shekhawat.

Five BJP legislators have been suspended from the party, as they were supporters of Bharatiya Janshakti President Uma Bharti.
