Akali Dal leader arrested in sedition case

Fatehgarh Sahib, July 22 (UNI) The Punjab Police today arrested Shiromani Akali Dal(Amritsar) vice president and Khalsa Action Committee(KAC) co-convener Daljit Singh Bittu.

Bittu, who was wanted in sedition case, was taken into custody from Bhullar village in Mukatsar district, SSP Nilabh Kishore here said.

He said that Bittu will be presented in the court tomorrow.

The court of Additional Sessions Judge, Fatehgarh Sahib had dismissed the anticipatory bail plea of Bittu in this case in the first week.

Bittu was booked by the local police on May 31 on charges of sedition when he and some of his associates raised provocative slogans during a protest against Dera Sacha Sauda chief.

Later he had approached the Punjab and Haryana High Court but the court denied him interim bail .
