Kolkata, July 21: Zee Interactive Learning Systems Ltd (ZILS), the education arm of Essel Group of Industries, launched the first 'Kidz Care Centre' in Eastern India here today.

After venturing into the education sector with its first 'Kidzee' in 1999, ZILS has decided to expand its education services through Kidz Care.

Speaking to sources on the sidelines of the launching of the centre, ZILS CEO Arun Khetan said the Kidz Care would be a home away from home for children in the age group of six months to 12 years.

''The entire concept has been created keeping in mind the challenges faced by working parents who have to leave their children at the mercy of maids or alone while they are at work,'' Mr Khetan said.

With a total investment of Rs five crore, ZILS has started the Kidz Care Centre in New Delhi, Bangalore and Hyderabad on franchisee basis where each franchisee costs Rs three lakh.

Explaining the market trend, Mr Khetan said, ''Zee is the first to enter into such a sector in India. Though the market is yet in a nascent stage, the estimated market potential by 2010 is Rs 10,000 crore.'' The Kidz Care assures to provide a safe and secure environment to the child and simultaneously instills in them creativity and etiquette. It has decided to open 35 centres across the country in the next two years.

The parents have to register themselves first before admitting the child to the centre. It has a fee of Rs 5,000 per month. There are various segments of programmes like 'infant', 'toddler' and 'pre-teen' programme.

Besides education, the centre will take utmost care of the child in matters of health, hygiene and nutrition.
