Vengaigal seeks aid for tsunami affected fishermen

Puducherry, July 21 (UNI) The ''Meenavar Viduthalai Vengaigal'' today demanded a financial assistance of Rs five lakh to the tsunami affected fishermen for whom houses were yet to be constructed by the government.

Addressing a press conference here, its convenor Ira Mangayarselvan said the government had identified house sites for the tsunami affected and constructed houses. However, there was a problem in identifying the sites in certain areas and the fishermen in the area were left out without providing any assistance.

He said the organisation would hold a procession on July 25. If the government failed to initiate action in this regard even after the procession, they would organise a black flag demonstration here on Independence Day.
