Two journalists assaulted by lawyers inside court premises

Chandanagore, Jul 21 (UNI) Two journalists were severely assaulted by a section of lawyers in the Hooghly district court premises here today following an altercation.

The trouble broke out when the scribes were taking notes of the proceedings of the Tapasi Malik murder case inside the court room and a section of lawyers asked them to stop.

After coming out of the court room, the lawyers severely beat up a reporter and a photo journalist of a Bengali daily, who protested the abuses being hurled at them.

A police contingent, led by the Additional Superintendent of Police reached the spot immediately to bring the situation under control.

Earlier, Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate Pradip Bandopadhyay remanded Debu Malik, the main accused in the case, to 14-day judicial custody.
