Report shows police officers moved away during Godhra riots
Ahmedabad, July 21 (UNI) A report presented before the Nanavati-Shah Commission, probing the Godhra carnage, today alleged that a nexus existed between senior police officials, ministers, other politicians and Hindu right wing groups like the VHP and the Bajrang Dal during the 2002 Gujarat riots.
The analysis report, based on the compact disc (CD) containing cell phone records, prepared by Jan Sangharsh Manch, claimed that the police officers had moved away from here during the crucial time of 2002 riots at the instance of politicians.
The report was presented by counsel of the Jan Sangharsh Manch Mukul Sinha.
Talking to reporters here, Adv Sinha claimed, ''The CD will embarrass the government totally, as it can establish the links between the perpetrators of violence, state administration and political establishment.'' ''We analysed the phone calls that were made in a particular locality covering the Naroda Patiya and Gulbargh society areas of Ahmedabad on the crucial day and numbers of top police officers which were given in a CD by DSP Rahul Sharma to the Commission.'' Adv Sinha said the calls data showed that the officers in these areas, with their strike force, had moved away during the crisis, which proves that the officers' submission before the Nanavati-Shah Commission earlier that they were overpowered by the mob was wrong.
The analysed numbers showed that these officers had moved out of these areas followed by calls from politicians, he alleged.
The Commission will submit its report by the year end.
