Chandigarh, July 21 (UNI) Punjab DGP would hold a meeting every month for appraisal of performance of all SSPs regarding crime prevention and detention besides actions taken for curbing drug smuggling in their areas.

This was announced by DGP NPS Aulakh while presiding over a high level review meeting of all the ADGPs, IGs Zonal, DIGs Ranges and SSsP held here today.

While expressing satisfaction over handling of law and order situation in most of the cases in the state in the recent past, Mr Aulakh directed the senior officers to ensure monthly review of the performance of their juniors and replace the inefficient officials immediately from the important assignments.

The Police chief further asked for performance audit as it was noticed that officers usually t ook security personnel attached to them from their previous assignment to new places thereby creating shortage of manpower.

He urged them to withdraw maximum personal security officials to enhance their reserve strength required for meeting the emergencies.

He also stressed on the need for personal monitoring by the SSPs of Assured Career Progression (ACP) Scheme for other ranks and non gazetted officers and fixation of seniority of NGOs to clear the backlog of promotions for these categories to encourage them to work more efficiently and diligently.

He also directed the SSPs of five districts namely Jalandhar, Amritsar, Ludhiana, Bathinda and Patiala to send detailed reports regarding separation of Law and Order and investigation.
