Patil defeats Shekhawat by over three lakh votes: Dasmunsi

New Delhi, July 21 (UNI) UPA-Left nominee Pratibha Patil won the 13th presidential election by over three lakh votes, her polling agent and Parliamentary Affairs Minister P R Dasmunsi said.

Talking to mediapersons after the completion of counting, he said though Mrs Patil's victory was expected, the margin was even beyond his expectations.

''It is massive...massive... massive,'' he said.

Though the results have not been officially announced, the UPA candidate is said to have beaten her rival, NDA-backed Independent candidate Bhairon Singh Shekhawat by 3,06,810 votes.
