60 pc Bluelines don't conform to norms; rejected
New Delhi, July 21: Over 60 per cent of the Bluelines subjected to checking at 34 DTC depots in the city were today declared as unfit for operation as they failed to confirm to the requisite norms.
Of the 393 Blueline buses that were subjected to detailed checking at the DTC depots, as part of the two-day drive by the Delhi Government, only 149 were cleared for operation on the city roads.
The rest 144 did not conform to the requisite norms and, hence, were declared unfit for operation on the city roads, sources in the Delhi Transport department said.
The over 4000 strong Blueline fleet in Delhi has been asked to undergo detailed checks at 34 DTC depots across Delhi today and tomorrow for ascertaining which of these buses conform to the requisite norms.
Only those buses which got a clearance from the state department would be allowed to operate on the roads from Monday.
The drive is a part of enforcement measures by the state government in the wake of a series of accidents over the past few weeks involving blueline buses.
