NDA must support UPA nominee Hamid Ansari in VP polls: Dasmunsi
New Delhi, July 21 (UNI) In view of the resounding victory of its candidate Pratibha Devisingh Patil in the 13th Presidential polls, the Congress today appealed to the opposition NDA not to field its own candidate but support UPA nominee Hamid Ansari.
Talking to reporters here, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Priyaranjan Dasmunsi said the Presidential election results had demonstrated that the strength of UPA-Left was such that its nominee Mr Ansari would win the Vice-Presidential polls on his own.
So the NDA should set up an example and support the UPA candidate in the August 10 Vice-Presidential polls so that it could also become a partner and make Mr Ansari's victory resounding, he said.
