Nanotech will revolutionalise health care system: Mukut Mithi
Puducherry, July 21 (UNI) Puducherry Lt Governor Mukut Mithi today said nanotechnology had the potential to revolutionalise health care system and that treatment could also be made readily available for diseases claiming millions of lives around the world, especially in the Asian and African countries.
Inaugurating a two-day workshop on ''Biliary Track,'' organised by the International College of Surgeons (Indian Section), to promote the continuing surgical education here, Mr Mithi said the opportunity of using nanotechnology was so high that the cost of medical devices would also come down substantially, if they were established using nanotechnology.
He felt that nanotechnology was all set to change the way of people's life. The medical experts could effectively address the health crisis faced by the country, if they stood committed to an effective application for the improvement of the quality of health care.
The Lt Governor also said the biggest challenge in India, a developing country, was meeting the health needs of the people and added that the World Bank has estimated that the communicable disease in the country accounted for death of more than 1,600 persons per day and added annually 22 lakh children, who died of preventable diseases.
