Music Today, HPCL launches new album

Chennai, July 21 (UNI) Music Today and Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd (HPCL) jointly launched a new album 'Into the Light', presenting the mandolin exponent U Rajesh, here last night.

This latest album had exhibited the mandolin maestro's ease in adapting Carnatic classic melodies and fusing them into a Indo-Western platform.

The album explored the various moods a person would undergo from dawn to dusk - a plaintive thinker walking in the rain, a gush of memories in 'reflections' and the feeling of spiritual uplift - in tracks such as 'Sacred Fires' and 'Devi', one of which was based on the popular Carnatic song 'Venkatchala Nilayam' set to raga Sindhubhairavi.

It also featured some brilliant new compositions combining guitar, drums and piano.
