Light rains bring relief from hot, humid conditions

New Delhi, July 21 (UNI) Light rains hit Delhi this afternoon, ending the week long lull in Monsoon activity and bringing some relief from the hot and humid conditions witnessed in the Capital over the past few days.

The rains, which hit the city at 1545 hours, provided Delhiites some respite from the warm and humid conditions experienced in the city over the last week.

The rainfall, which followed a heavily overcast sky in the city since this morning, brought down maximum temperature to 35.2 Degree Celsius, from 36.6 Degree Celsius yesterday.

Although just 9.2 mm of rainfall was recorded till 1730 hours, weathermen have forecast more rainfall in the next few days under the influence of a Monsoon trough extending from Bihar to Central Bay of Bengal in lower tropospheric levels.

Infact, the weather office has forecast increase in rainfall activity in Delhi and other parts of Northwest india in the next few days.

''The current meteorological analysis suggests scattered to fairly widespread rainfall over Western Himalayan region and adjoining Northern plains during the next 3-4 days,''the Met office said.

The Met office has also forecast some heavy rainfall in Delhi and other plains of Northwest India towards the beginning of the next week.

''Fairly widespread rainfall activity is likely over plains of Northwest India from the afternoon of July 24,''the Met office said.

For the next 24 hours, weather office has forecast a generally cloudy sky in Delhi with one or two spells of rain and thundershowers.
