JD(S), allies stage demo to ensure govt quota in medical colleges
Puducherry, July 21 (UNI) The Puducherry unit of the Janata Dal (S) and its alliance parties today staged an agitation to exert pressure on the government to bring 65 per cent seats in private medical colleges and 50 per cent seats in minority institutions under the government quota as in Tamil Nadu.
Over 100 volunteers of the JD(S), NCP and RJD, including women, assembled before the Kamaraj Statue here. During the agitation, the men beat themselves with chappals and the women with broomsticks.
They dispersed after about half an hour.
